For learning technology tools and on-demand faculty resources, please visit CAL’s website.

Students: Due to inclement weather, the university will be closed to face-to-face operations. Instruction will be moved to emergency remote, including synchronous and asynchronous methods. Certain laboratory, clinical, and other hands-on classes for which in-person instruction is a requirement may necessitate a make-up lesson, but every effort will be made to pursue virtual learning to the extent possible. Where synchronous virtual instruction is intended, published class meeting times must be observed so that students’ schedules are not disrupted.

The safety and security of our students, faculty, staff, and the broader community remain our top priority. We will continue to provide updates regarding the status of the university’s academic and administrative offices as conditions change.

Please continue to check our website and social media channels for the latest information.

If you have any safety concerns, contact OPSEM at 202-274-5050. For all immediate emergencies, call 911.

Thank you for your continued dedication to our students and to UDC’s mission.

ARC Intake Process and Forms

Accessibility and Resource Center

The University of the District of Columbia extends a warm welcome to applicants, undergraduates and postgraduates with disabilities. We sincerely hope that you will enjoy your academic studies and university life to the fullest. Our many students and alumni with disabilities who have gone before you have made us proud of their academic and personal achievements.

The ARC Counselor will engage the student in an interactive process to consider recommended reasonable accommodations necessary to enable the student to have an equal opportunity to benefit from services, programs, or activities at the University.

This process will include (as appropriate) the consideration of

  1. Documentation substantiating a request for particular accommodations;
  2. The student’s prior accommodations;
  3. Specific course or program requirements;
  4. Available course options or alternatives;
  5. Available accommodations, modifications, or auxiliary aids;
  6. A review of the nature and extent of the disability and the effect of the disability on performance within the course and/or the program.

The student and the ARC Counselor will review the information described above and discuss potential accommodations. The ARC Counselor will provide the student with information about how to access the accommodations, which have been deemed as reasonable and appropriate for the individual student.

  • Note: It takes at minimum 1-2 weeks to process registration requests.

Consultation

  • Under some circumstances, the interactive process may include consultation with course instructors or specialists familiar with the student’s disability, where appropriate.
  • The course instructors or specialists will be knowledgeable and informed about the nature of the student’s disability, and the effect of that disability on the student’s performance in all aspects of the program.
  • The ARC will ensure that any determination regarding auxiliary aids and academic adjustments includes reasoned deliberation, consultation with course instructors or specialists familiar with the student’s disability, a review of course or program requirements, and available options and alternatives.
