Emergency Alert
UDC Operating Remotely on Friday, Jan. 30

The University of the District of Columbia’s academic and administrative offices will conduct business remotely on Friday, Jan. 30. All on-campus activities, including athletic-related activities, are cancelled.

Campuses will reopen on Monday, Feb. 2.

Staff: Contact your immediate supervisor with questions or for further instruction regarding remote work expectations.

Faculty: Reach out to your immediate supervisor and/or the dean for questions and further instruction regarding the transition to emergency remote instruction (ERI).  The Center for the Advancement of Learning (CAL) is available to support faculty with instructional continuity, including support for Blackboard, Zoom, Webex and other teaching and learning technologies.

Students: Due to inclement weather, the university will be closed to face-to-face operations. Instruction will be moved to emergency remote, including synchronous and asynchronous methods. Certain laboratory, clinical, and other hands-on classes for which in-person instruction is a requirement may necessitate a make-up lesson, but every effort will be made to pursue virtual learning to the extent possible. Where synchronous virtual instruction is intended, published class meeting times must be observed so that students’ schedules are not disrupted.

The safety and security of our students, faculty, staff, and the broader community remain our top priority. We will continue to provide updates regarding the status of the university’s academic and administrative offices as conditions change.

Please continue to check our website and social media channels for the latest information.

If you have any safety concerns, contact OPSEM at 202-274-5050. For all immediate emergencies, call 911.

Thank you for your continued dedication to our students and to UDC’s mission.

Accessibility and Resource Center

The University of the District of Columbia extends a warm welcome to applicants, undergraduates and postgraduates with disabilities. We sincerely hope that you will enjoy your academic studies and university life to the fullest. Our many students and alumni with disabilities who have gone before you have made us proud of their academic and personal achievements.

Information shared by you in a counseling session will be kept in strict confidence. The Accessibility Resource Center staff operates as a team in order to provide the best possible services to students. As professionals, we confer with each other within the Department. These consultations are for professional and/or training purposes only. Information will not be disclosed outside of the Accessibility Resource Center without your written permission, with the exception of the following:

  • Abuse of Children If a staff member has reason to believe that a child under the age of 18 is being abused or neglected, she/he is legally obligated to report this situation to the appropriate state agency.
  • Imminent Harm to Self If a staff member has reason to believe that you are in danger of physically harming yourself, and you are unwilling or unable to follow treatment recommendations, she/he may have to make an involuntary referral to a hospital/or contact a family member or another person who may be able to protect you.
  • Imminent Harm to Others If a staff member has reason to believe that you are seriously threatening physical violence against another person, or if you have a history of physically violent behavior, she/he may be required to take some action (such as contacting the police, notifying the other person, seeking involuntary hospitalization, or some such combination of these actions) to ensure that the other person is protected.

Please note: The exception to confidentiality is extremely rare. However, if it should occur, it is the Center’s policy that, whenever possible, we will discuss with you any action that is being considered. Legally, we are not obligated to seek your permission, especially if such a discussion would prevent us from securing your safety, or the safety of others. If disclosure of confidential information does become necessary, we will release only the information necessary to protect your and/or another person’s physical safety.

If you have any questions regarding the above information, please discuss them with your intake counselor.
