Program Overview
Associate of Applied Science in Architectural Engineering Technology
The architecture program, which leads to the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Architectural Engineering Technology (AET), prepares students for entry-level employment in governmental agencies and private sector firms in the architecture, consulting engineering, and construction industries. The AAS degree in the AET program also satisfies the first two years of the B.S./M.S. Architecture program at UDC, and similar degree programs at other institutions. This feature of the program accommodates those students whose career objective is to become a licensed professional architect. The AET program offers late evening courses and studio hours to accommodate students who must work during regular business hours.
On completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Illustrate concepts of architectural theories in a design environment.
- Utilize modern instruments, methods, and techniques to produce documents and architectural engineering and presentations.
- Conduct standardized field and laboratory testing on construction materials.
- Utilize modern instruments and research techniques for site development and building layout.
- Identify forces and stresses in elementary structural systems.
- Estimate material quantities for technical projects.
- Utilize codes, contracts, and specifications to perform design, construction, and inspection activities.
- Employ productivity software to solve technical problems
