Program Overview

Associate in Applied Science in Computer Accounting Technology

The Associate in Applied Science degree in Computer Accounting Technology is designed to prepare students to become technicians or accounting clerks and to operate and maintain a microcomputer-oriented, general accounting system. The program trains students to enter the job market in semiprofessional categories. Also, it provides students with the background necessary for matriculation in the Bachelor’s program in accounting. The use of cooperative job assignments is encouraged to provide students with practical accounting experience. A “C” or better is required for all accounting courses.

The AAS Computer Accounting Technology program upholds the highest standards of quality and academic rigor. The program is fully accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

Program of Study

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Apply the specialized accounting skills and knowledge needed to analyze, classify and record business transactions in a manual environment for a service or merchandise business.
  • Demonstrate through their cooperative education work experience effective written and oral communication skills, the ability to work cooperatively with others, and the basic communication skills needed in the workplace.
  • Use spreadsheet and specialized accounting software in accounting applications in a computerized business environment.
  • Identify, discuss and evaluate ethical issues and decisions in accounting case studies
