Start on your way toward a rewarding career among pilots and mechanics alike through the Aviation Maintenance Technology program at the University of the District of Columbia. With the help of our experienced instructors, each of whom has more than 15 years of professional experience in the field, a healthy instructor-to-student ratio (1:25) and more than enough training equipment and aircraft to support you and your classmates, you can be certain the steps you take at UDC are just the first of many towards a long and successful career. Having participated in prestigious competitions like the Aviation Maintenance Competition and offering a variety of tools and resources throughout your schooling, we're ready to equip you with everything you'll need along the way.
Offered through the community college at UDC, the Aviation Maintenance Technology program offers two academic paths: the Associate in Applied Science in Aviation Maintenance Technology degree and the Certificate in Aviation Maintenance Technology. Whichever you choose, both options can serve as a respectable tool in your professional pursuits as you move forward.
On average, 80% of our students have acquired the Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic license required to work at the airlines within six months of completing the program. Many of our recent graduates are working for airlines at Washington National Airport (DCA) and Dulles International Airport (IAD).
