Associate of Arts in Graphic Design
Advance your education and pursue a creative career with an Associate of Arts in Graphic Design degree from the University of the District of Columbia! Our courses can set you up for success in an in-demand and exciting profession and can also prepare you to go on to a four-year degree at UDC. Many of our students have received national recognition while working toward their degrees, winning prizes at the NBA HBCU Art Competition, the BET HBCU Soul Train Art Competition and the Target Corporation Art Competition among others.
Your Graphic Design degree is the first step to professional opportunities in a variety of design disciplines. You might choose a rewarding career in art direction, web design, publication design, illustration, animation and many other communication design disciplines!
The Graphic Design program at UDC is a two-year degree path offering various courses in concept development, visual organization, visual art technology, design application, design history and design theory. Once you have completed the program, passed the portfolio review, and maintained a B average in all major courses, you'll be eligible to transfer to the Bachelor of Fine Arts concentration in Graphic Design program at UDC.
Our hands-on courses are taught in art studios and graphics labs, providing modern technology and covering the major areas of the field, such as illustration, logo design, web design and animation. You will also develop skills in:

- Drawing and color theory
- Art and design history
- Photography
- Essential computer programs
